CU announces an historic sponsorship deal with PointsBet. Thoughts?
  • Excellent news! The first Power Five program to ink a deal with a sports gaming company - and it couldn't come at a better time for CU's athletic department budget (40%, 79 Votes)
  • I liked the part where it was announced that funds would be earmarked for the CU athletic department’s Scripps Leadership and Career Development Program. A win/win situation for CU's student-athletes (35%, 69 Votes)
  • I'm not sure I like the optics. Sure, sports gambling is now gaining legal status in more states (including Colorado), but having a collegiate athletics program promoting it? Not sure I like the idea (25%, 52 Votes)

CU has 13 former players on NFL rosters to start the 2020 season. Thoughts?
  • It's nice to see that all three players taken in the 2020 draft, including seventh rounder Arlington Hambright, made their respective rosters (42%, 66 Votes)
  • It is what it is, and with the new rules, there are several Buffs who have made practice squads and injured reserve lists, who still could see the field this fall (33%, 52 Votes)
  • Sad to see the numbers continuing to dwindle. There were 16 former Buffs on NFL rosters at the end of the season. Sorry to see the CU legacy of producing NFL talent continuing to decline (25%, 38 Votes)

Which of the following Week One wins over CSU means the most to you?
  • 1998: CU 42, No. 15 CSU 14 - The first Rocky Mountain Showdown in Denver. The largest crowd to witness a collegiate game in the state watches a Buff rout (35%, 39 Votes)
  • 2001: CU 41, No. 24 CSU 14 - Buffs rebound from season-opening loss to Fresno State to down ranked Rams; set the stage for Big 12 title run (25%, 28 Votes)
  • 2004: CU 27, CSU 24 - Goal line stand in final minute preserves Buff victory in the "Marcus Houston" game (a/k/a the "Win one for the Stripper" game) (25%, 28 Votes)
  • 1997: No. 8 CU 31, No. 24 CSU 21 - The only game played between the teams when both were ranked. Buffs rally from 14-7 halftime deficit (15%, 15 Votes)

Buffs take down Rams, 38-17, in Ft. Collins in the first game of the Karl Dorrell era. Thoughts?
  • Not a surprising result. The Rams often play well to start (especially when they have all of Fall Camp to prepare for the Buffs), but CU's talent won out. Well done, Buffs! (46%, 42 Votes)
  • I'm just sorry that Pac-12 games were not played this weekend (though, from all predictions about the USC/Alabama game, I'm guessing Clay Helton is not as sorry) (31%, 28 Votes)
  • I don't think 38-17 is a fair representation of how bad the Buffs would have won. The 57-3 result seems more realistic to me. CSU is a dumpster fire right now (23%, 21 Votes)

What to you was the most significant story of the day?
  • That Utah furloughed the entire athletic department (including AD and coaches). It doesn't get more drastic than that, folks. No football or basketball practices for the foreseeable future (52%, 71 Votes)
  • That Lane Kiffin said that there were at least two SEC schools which couldn't play this weekend. "Postponements" are becoming commonplace - can cancellations be far behind? (22%, 30 Votes)
  • That Larry Scott said that there is a "high degree" of confidence that the Pac-12 will play in January. With the new testing, that seems like a realistic goal (17%, 23 Votes)
  • That teams which play an eight-game spring schedule can have a 15-practice ramp up, but those who start later in the fall (read: Big Ten) cannot. So much for Big Ten Thanksgiving football (9%, 12 Votes)

  1. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  2. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  3. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
