Alamo Bowl set: Colorado (4-1) v. No. 20 Texas (6-3). Thoughts?
  • Excited for the Buffs! A prominent bowl in a prime recruiting area for the Buffs. Well done, Dorrell & Co. - can't wait for the 29th! (50%, 206 Votes)
  • "To be the best you have to play the best". Glad CU is playing a ranked Texas team instead of a 3-7 Mississippi State team (which CU would have had USC played). Fingers crossed! (30%, 121 Votes)
  • Muted appreciation. The last time CU was in San Antonio, the Buffs lost 38-8. The last time Texas was in San Antonio (last year), they bombed Utah, 38-10. Color me nervous (20%, 81 Votes)

If you had your choice, which of the following stocking stuffers would you give CU head coach Karl Dorrell?
  • A convincing bowl win, finishing the bizarre 2020 season with a 5-1 record, and a great deal of momentum for the 2021 season (47%, 194 Votes)
  • For momentum from the 2020 season to lead to a Top 30 Recruiting Class from the Class of 2022 (34%, 142 Votes)
  • A speedy recovery (relative term - likely 8-9 months) for Nate Landman, with Landman deciding to come back for the 2021 season and earn CU's third Butkus Award (19%, 81 Votes)

With other Pac-12 schools opting out of bowl season, CU is guaranteed a bowl opportunity. Which bowl would you like to see the Buffs play in?
  • The Armed Forces Bowl. It will be against a lower tier SEC team, but in Ft. Worth, which is great recruiting area for CU, and a good chance for a victory (47%, 133 Votes)
  • The Alamo. It's for Pac-12 team No. 2, and CU is deserving. A game against the loser of the Iowa State/Oklahoma game will be a tough challenge, but the Buffs will be up for it! (34%, 98 Votes)
  • The Fiesta Bowl. Okay, it's not going to happen ... but the Pac-12 owes the Buffs ... it would be a great way to end Year One of the Karl Dorrell era (16%, 45 Votes)
  • The Independence Bowl. The game will be against Army, which will be a tough game (see: Air Force, 2019), but Army hasn't played a Power Five team yet (3%, 9 Votes)

A number of other schools (including Washington State, UCLA, and Stanford from the Pac-12) have opted out of playing in a bowl game. Should CU?
  • It's up to the players. Reports are they voted against another non-conference game, but in favor of a bowl. Sounds good to me (59%, 245 Votes)
  • No. CU has played in exactly one bowl game in the past 13 years, and very few of these players were around in 2016 for the last bowl game. They deserve the trip (and to get to play another game) (39%, 161 Votes)
  • Yes. The value of a bowl - travel to a new site with fun side trips, swag, getting to play in front of friends and family - doesn't exist. It's just a road game before few (if any) fans. Pass (2%, 11 Votes)

CU signs 17 new Buffs from the Recruiting Class of 2021. Thoughts?
  • I'm prepared to give Karl Dorrell and the staff a pass on this year's Class, because of all of the handicaps involved, but I expect better rankings from the Recruiting Class of 2022 (57%, 237 Votes)
  • Looks like a good Class. A quality quarterback, a highly-rated tight end, plus four defensive linemen and five defensive backs - all areas of need. Nice looking Class under the circumstances! (28%, 114 Votes)
  • When you finish in the 50's nationally in Team Rankings, and in the bottom half of the Pac-12 (8th at Rivals; 9th at 247 Sports), that's probably where you'll end up in the standings (not good) (15%, 62 Votes)

  1. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  2. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  3. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
