After reading the Fall Camp Preview on CU's running backs, who do you predict will be the starter August 2nd?
  • Sophomore Houston transfer Alton McCaskill. A coveted portal recruit, McCaskill was the AAC Freshman Offensive Player of the Year two years ago, and will have fresh legs (59%, 126 Votes)
  • Senior Kentucky transfer Kavosiey Smoke. This is Smoke's final chance to impress NFL scouts, and he will make the most of the opportunity (26%, 55 Votes)
  • Freshman Dylan Edwards. Before CU starting loading up on transfers, Buff fans were amazed that this former Notre Dame commit was a Buff. He was in Boulder for spring ball, so he'll have a leg up (8%, 17 Votes)
  • Junior Jackson State transfer Sy’veon Wilkerson. With the issues of "chemistry" for the team a potential issue, why not have Shedeur's backfield mate behind him for Game One (7%, 14 Votes)

Which of the following newly minted members of the Big 12 will fare the best in their inaugural season this fall?
  • BYU - 8-5 as an independent last fall. These Cougars have been longing for a Power Five invitation for decades, and will take advantage of their opportunity (and altitude) this season (41%, 67 Votes)
  • Cincinnati - 9-4, 6-2 in the AAC last fall. Critics feel that there will be a drop-off for the Bearcats, but I'm not seeing it. A former playoff team, Cincinnati can play with the big boys (23%, 38 Votes)
  • Houston - 8-5, 5-3 in the AAC last fall. These Cougars have been playing little brother to the Big 12 Texas teams for too long, and will relish the chance to play on an equal footing this fall (22%, 37 Votes)
  • Central Florida - 9-5, 6-2 in the AAC last fall. Scott Frost may not be the head coach, but this team was recently 13-0, and will take advantage of conference opponents long road trips to Orlando (14%, 23 Votes)

Which to you is the most eyebrow-raising story as June, 2023, comes to a close?
  • That San Diego State gave notice to the Mountain West that it wasn't leaving the conference. Did the Pac-12 miss yet another opportunity to maintain some relevance? (41%, 73 Votes)
  • That a bettor laid down $1,200 on Colorado to win the national championship. I admire the optimism, but there is no way that CU is going to win the national title in Year One under Coach Prime (30%, 53 Votes)
  • That CU signed its fifth junior college offensive lineman. If the Buffs are signing a lineman from - wait for it - Rochester Community & Technical College - should Buff fans be concerned? (29%, 52 Votes)

Which of the following units would you rate as the deepest and most talented unit on the team?
  • Cornerback. This is a no-brainer. Travis Hunter was the highest-rated recruit in the nation in 2022; Cormani McClain one of the top ten CB's in the Class of 2023. It's never been this good at CU (49%, 117 Votes)
  • Wide receiver. Travis Hunter will be a star, even if on the field part-time. Jimmy Horn, Jr. and Xavier Weaver were stars at USF, and don't forget the 4-star recruits, Adam Hopkins and Omarion Miller (34%, 81 Votes)
  • Running back. Alton McCaskill and Kavosiey Smoke bring FBS experience to CU, Dylan Edwards is a four-star back stolen from Notre Dame, and, OBTW, Sy’veon Wilkerson ran for 1,300 yards for JSU in 2022 (17%, 43 Votes)

Start Date: June 29, 2023 @ 4:32 pm

Stewart Mandel: "Everyone I talk to inside the Pac-12 remains confident that no one is leaving". Thoughts?
  • I'm just hopeful that there will be some resolution soon. It's almost gotten to the point where I don't care about the media rights distribution or which league expands or contracts. Just decide! (41%, 74 Votes)
  • Mandel and his "sources" don't know any more about what's going on in the room than we do. Friday (June 30th) will either be a big news day - or it won't (40%, 72 Votes)
  • Good news. I hope that this is a sign that the media rights deal is on the (near) horizon, and we can replace media rights and expansion talk with talk about actual football (19%, 36 Votes)

  1. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  2. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  3. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
