Sefo Liufau threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns as Colorado overcame an 11-point third-quarter deficit to beat Massachusetts 41-38 in a game played in Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts.

UMass had turned a 20-14 deficit into a 31-20 lead by scoring 17 points in a span of 2:54 late in the second quarter and early in the third. Then Colorado scored on its next three possessions on a 14-yard run by Christian Powell, and touchdown passes of 70 and 3 yards from Liufau to Nelson Spruce.

Colorado opened the 2014 Rocky Mountain Showdown with a 10-0 lead, but was run over by the Colorado State Rams in the second half, falling 31-17. Colorado State posted 266 yards rushing, with two backs, Dee Hart and Treyous Jarrells each going for over 100 yards as the Rams finished the game on a 24-0 run.

Colorado quarterback Sefo Liufau completed 24-of-39 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns (no interceptions), with Nelson Spruce collecting both scoring passes in going for 104 yards. Michael Adkins led the Buff rushers with 68 yards, but the Colorado rushing attack was but half (134 total yards) of what the Rams were able to post.

In remembering the game, most of the 63,363 who attended will not recall that, for much of the first half, the Buffs dominated.

Utah 24, Colorado 17

Colorado spotted Utah a 21-0 lead early, but then fought back to get within a touchdown late before falling, 24-17.

Sefo Liufau fumbled twice in the first quarter, with both turnovers leading to Utah touchdowns. Liufau, who was harassed all game long, completed 23-of-46 passes for 241 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Nelson Spruce led the receivers, with six receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown – and also contributed a 32-yard completion to Sefo Liufau on a trick play in the second quarter.

Colorado posted 321 total yards, with only 48 coming on the ground. After surrendering yards and points early, the CU defense held up its end for most of the remainder of the game, giving up 388 total yards to the Utes.

No. 23 USC 47, Colorado 29

The No. 23 USC Trojans took advantage of two first half Colorado turnovers to build a 23-0 halftime lead, coasting to a 47-29 win over the Buffs in Boulder. The Buffs’ point total matched the temperature at kickoff, 29-degrees, with only 36,005 on hand to witness the Buffs’ home finale.

USC quarterback Cody Kessler went 19-of-28 for 184 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Javorius Allen had 20 carries for 143 yards and three scores to lead the Trojans. The Buffs, held to 73 yards of total offense in the first half, managed four second half touchdowns to make the score more respectable.

Freshman quarterback Sefo Liufau finished 17-of-33 for 188 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Paul Richardson, shut out in the first half, finished with eight catches for 88 yards and a touchdown, while Michael Adkins led the CU rushing attack with 14 carries for 63 yards and a touchdown.

Sefo Liufau threw for a career-high 364 yards and Paul Richardson set a team record for receiving yards in a season to help Colorado snap a 14-game conference losing streak by beating slumping California 41-24 on a windy Saturday in Boulder.

Wind gusts of up to 43 mph buffeted the two team struggling to post their first Pac-12 conference victory of the season. In the end, Colorado had 485 yards of total offense, with Liufau finding Richardson and Nelson Spruce for 140 receiving yards apiece. Christian Powell added 60 rushing yards and a touchdown as the Buffs were able to defeat a conference foe at home for the first time in two full years.

Ka’Deem Carey rushed for four touchdowns and Arizona extended Colorado’s Pac-12 losing streak to a dozen games with a 44-20 win over the Buffaloes at CU’s Homecoming.

Carey, the nation’s leading rusher, ran for 119 yards on 23 carries. But it was his quarterback, B.J. Denker, who surprised the Buffs on the ground with a career-best 192 yards on 15 keepers.

Colorado was held to 349 yards of total offense, with freshman quarterback Sefo Liufau going 17-for-32 for 212 yards, a touchdown and an interception. No Colorado runner had more than 54 yards, while Paul Richardson had seven catches for 132 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter.

Freshman running back Michael Adkins had four rushing touchdowns in leading Colorado to a 43-10 victory over Charleston Southern in Sefo Liufau’s first career start at quarterback.

Adkins, who had 178 rushing yards on the season coming into the game, had 13 carries for 137 yards to lead the Buffs in what appeared to be a rout on the final scoreboard. The score was 22-10 at half, however, after CSU put together two nine-minute first-half drives to keep the game close. The Colorado defense stiffened in the second half, however, as the Buffs slowly pulled away from the Buccaneers …
