— Duck Soup As the Buffs licked their wounds from another close loss to Nebraska to end the 1998 regular season, two questions remained unanswered: Where would the 7-4, 4-4 Buffs be going bowling?; and Who would be the opponent? — September 26th – Boulder No. 15 Colorado 18, Baylor 16 — The Baylor Bears, fresh off of a 33-30 win over North Carolina State (which in turn had just shocked the nation with a 24-7 win over previously 2nd-ranked Florida State) came to Boulder with aspirations of putting to rest the memories of a 2-9 1997 campaign. — November 20 – at Kansas State Kansas State 33, Colorado 10 — Fresh from their largest margin of victory since 1978, a 28-3 decision over Kansas, the Buffs had a small degree of momentum going into the season finale against Kansas State in Manhattan. The Wildcats, for their part, despite a 5-4-1 overall record, were on a two-game losing streak.
