5:55 a.m., MTAs a reminder … After a 60-year run as a binding agreement between prospective athletes and college programs, the national letter of intent (NLI) is no longer at the Division 1 level. But signing periods still exist. Instead of an NLI, prospects will sign athletics aid paperwork. Once a student-athlete signs a written offer of athletic aid, other schools are prohibited from communicating with them. The early signing period for 2025 high school and Junior College recruits begins this Wednesday and runs through Friday

5:50  a.m., MT … Welcome back to another Signing Day! With a number recruits coming from the eastern time zone, there should be plenty of activity here on The Ticker early this morning …

  1. I love the recruits but I was really hoping for some workhorse RBs.

We HAVE to build our run game. I understand the strategy of bringing in the spark with skill players for year 1 and then enhancing the lines but with a fr QB (no matter how well rated) we need to be able to ground and pound in Kansas and Iowa during a blizzard in November.

I want the whole stadium to know exactly what we are going to do and then I want us to run the ball down their throat anyway. Physical smash mouth tempo running attack at altitude with a stable of backs is the dream.

  2. I live the archived feature at cuatthegame. Went and checked out the 2017 class because of the similar situation of a great year following a long string of bad years. Predominently 3 stars with a few 4 star receivers and 1 ol. Compare that to this class with a predominance of 4 stars….. it just makes me happy to experience this. Talent is pouring into CU at a level we have not seen in ages. Super cool to see. I might have to go search through the archives and see when we had a class weighted so heavily in 4 stars.

  3. Some are rated high by one, two, three or all four of the rating services, I gotta believe that in Prime’s higher profile class that those who are not rated by a service will be rated in the near future. But, I think the days of going down in rating when already rated, or getting a lower rating when not rated simply because they committed to the Buffs are over.

Prime’s recruits are now a proven commodity and the rating services are going for clicks AND Prime’s recruits are going to generate clicks and attention; that’s for sure. 15 in with three more expected isn’t that small of a class, especially if there are a few surprise additions.

How many total spots are there going to be with grads, those going early to the NFL and the few that already transferred out? There may also be a few more defectors, but probably not as many as the last two years. So, how big or small will 20ish size class of high school players be?

How many O-line transfers is there still room for?

I believe CU will lose a few D-line/edge guys to the NFL too.

  4. I’m relieved that JuJu didn’t drag out signing his LOI like Seaton did last year. The future is bright. Good to be a Buff!!
