CU At The Game Podcast – Crystal Ball: Game-by-Game Preview of the 2024 CU Season
—
Welcome to our much anticipated CU game-by-game season preview. I am joined for this episode by Brad Geiger and Neil Langland, and we are going to give you our predictions for the outcomes of each of CU’s games for the 2024 season.
In the past few years, we have been pretty successful in predicting the outcomes of Buff games, though admittedly during the Karl Dorrell years it didn’t take much expertise to see what was coming. Last year, Brad was right on with his 4-8 prediction, with Neil (6-6) and I (5-7) being slightly more optimistic.
So … For the 2024 season, there are eight games on the CU schedule for which there is unanimity of opinion as to the forecasted outcome. But for four games … Nebraska, Central Florida, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State … there is a split decision.
What are your predictions for CU’s 2024 season? Do they match up with ours? …
Let’s find out …

It is hard to predict the season outcome so far in advance. Buffs are a 5 to 8 win team depending on how the lines shake out. I lean to the optimistic side, 7 or 8 wins. One thing it is NOT hard to do is predict a win over the ‘holers. The podcast mentioned several things such as “believing it when they regarding stopping the running game or having a running game or winning a road game.” All valid concerns, however, I’ll believe it when I see it when the ‘holers with a true freshman QB beat the Buffs!! No reason to give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove it. I’ll take #2 and #12 over the ‘holers. We aren’t in Missouri, but they have to show me.
Thanks for the cast always learn a lot in addition to your thoughts. Some thoughts of my own?
1. Why do people think Nebraska is going to be so good? Yes they fumbled a ton last year and that guy is gone, but even without the fumbling we beat them pretty solidly. They bring in a new qb, we bring in an oline to protect Sheduer.
2. What the hell is with this schedule. 2 of our first games have byes before our game and we get EVERY ranked team? Wtf? I think they built this schedule so that the best teams in the Big12 will get a benefit from our media coverage……
Bingo
There fear of nebraska is still strong within these ones. Shameful. How many years on a row has the media fawned over them and they disappointed? Has anyone new with any cred come to their team besides the already anointed QB? Dont remember which of the trio said the cobb D is the real deal. If that is a fact the game probably rides on Schurmur’s shoulders. Thats where the fear lies in this one. No doubt he can put together a good play book. I still need to see how he uses it in gametime. He has to take advantage of Shedeur and the ocho amigos while providing some diversion in the running game. Please dont go all dink and dunk on us. I still have nightmares about the pass to the wideout at or just behind the line of scrimmage…over and over and over again. I dont think Ruhle is the smartest coach on the carousel but what if he tries the CSU shallow crossing route? You would think Livingston would have an answer for the passing game due to his background.
Finally its just as likely the cobbs will be putting more pressure on themselves to win this game and overplay it. If the Buffs dont win this one, even at that pile of crumbling concrete in Lincoln my take on the bowl chances goes away. The Buffs will be facing better coaches than Ruhle at Kansas, Okie State, UCF, Utah, of course and possibly K State
