What was the best news to come out of CU's second scrimmage on Saturday?
  • That both wide receiver RJ Sneed and offensive lineman Tommy Brown are both going to be back at practice on Monday. If CU is going to be successful this fall, they need these to transfers to play (60%, 133 Votes)
  • That senior safety walk-on Anthony Lyle was given CU's final scholarship for the 2022 season. A special teams standout, Lyle represents what's still good about college football (22%, 48 Votes)
  • That head coach Karl Dorrell was impressed with how well the team played (except for the penalties), with the defense making goal line plays (and no new injuries reported) (18%, 40 Votes)

CU has six returning starters on offense, including three offensive linemen. How would you rate CU's offensive roster heading into the 2022 season?
  • Hard to say. Ask me again when a starter is named at quarterback, and RJ Sneed and Tommy Brown are cleared to play. The offense has made some strides, but still won't scare many Pac-12 defenses (66%, 150 Votes)
  • A weakness. Everyone is undefeated in Fall Camp, but the reality is that the Buffs lost talent, and is relying on transfers (not yet cleared to play). Better, but not enough to produce six wins (18%, 41 Votes)
  • A strength. CU actually has more than one QB on the roster, a better offensive coordinator, and players with a chip on their shoulders. I look for much improved production this fall (16%, 37 Votes)

Big Ten announces a seven-year, $7 billion media rights deal with Fox, CBS and NBC. Thoughts?
  • Just one step closer to two mega conferences, and the true end of college football as we know it. May as well get started paying players in those conferences, and let the rest of football move on (51%, 106 Votes)
  • Works out to be about $62.5 million per year per school (once USC and UCLA join). Gigantic numbers, but not the $100 million/year/school which was being reported (20%, 41 Votes)
  • The seven-year term is interesting. The Big Ten is positioned to negotiate its next deal before the SEC (out to 2034). The Big Ten has made a pretty smart deal here (wish CU could be a part of it) (18%, 37 Votes)
  • Will the Pac-12, uh, Pac-10 deal be even half of that total? How long will Oregon/Washington stay? And, if they go, does anyone believe the Pac-10/12 can survive? (11%, 22 Votes)

Which of the following "How Many Football Fans?" stats to you is the most enlightening/interesting/eye-brow raising?
  • That CU is 50th in the nation (0.95 million), which is below the Pac-12 average (1.96 million), and only 9th in the Pac-12. The slow decline in CU's national brand over the past 20 years is real (64%, 128 Votes)
  • That Oregon is No. 7 nationally in fans, with 5.54 million, ahead of No. 8 Alabama (5.34 million) and No. 10 USC (4.46 million), with fanatics at LSU, A&M, and Georgia all down around 4 million (19%, 38 Votes)
  • That the Pac-12 is equal to the ACC in fan base (23.5 million each, with the ACC number not counting Notre Dame), and well ahead of the Big 12 (11.6 million). Would a move to the Big 12 be risky? (13%, 25 Votes)
  • That Nebraska's fan base (2.55 million) and CSU's fan base (0.26 million) are both below their conference averages. Nebraska is only about 1/4th of Ohio State, and only about 1/3 of Michigan (4%, 8 Votes)

The Athletic posts an article entitled "Hope for CFB’s (hopefully) not Hopeless", but Colorado was not a team mentioned in the article. Thoughts?
  • I'm just glad that Arizona is recognized as a program in trouble, along with Arizona State and Nebraska. It's been fun watching the Cornhuskers struggle, and watching Herm burn ASU to the ground (46%, 76 Votes)
  • Not sure what to make of CU's exclusion. Does it mean that CU is seen as being better than the teams profiled ... or that CU as a program is actually reached the "hopeless" stage (27%, 45 Votes)
  • Kansas, Vanderbilt, Duke, Indiana (historically), along with 1-11 Arizona ... Glad CU didn't "make the cut" in this inauspicious list of historical losers (27%, 44 Votes)

  1. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  2. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  3. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
